Leon Eric Avrutin

Leon comes from a Languages background and is now doing a Law conversion, with the aim of breaking into that field. He is a lifelong language learner and humanities aficionado and wants to help others find the same joy in what they do.

He studied Russian, Linguistics and History at the University of Padua in Italy, so studying foreign languages in a foreign language (Italian), a sink-or-swim situation which he credits for his tenacious and lively teaching style. He has been in many hard situations and knows from experience how to deal with of them, and more importantly how to avoid them in the first place, fulfilling potential you didn't know you had and keeping mental blocks out of the equation.

Branching out into tutoring Humanities, Arts and more with Latimer was therefore a natural progression for Leon, who specialises in transferable skills, versatility and communication.

Leon Eric Avrutin is an English, MFL and Geography specialist offering private tutoring at £25.00 per hour. Based in the United Kingdom, he supports students through online tutoring as well as in-person lessons, with experience teaching one-to-one and in small groups. After each session, Leon provides a lesson report, and homework can be arranged free of charge.

Leon holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures from the University of Padua (Italy). With a strong languages background and ongoing law conversion studies, he brings a communication-focused, adaptable approach that helps students build transferable skills and work through common “mental blocks” that can get in the way of progress.

As an English tutor, Leon teaches English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and GCSE, and he also offers support with Verbal Reasoning. He is also an English as a Foreign Language tutor, with EFL support available from Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 through GCSE, AS Level and A Level (and MA level listed where appropriate). For Modern Foreign Languages, he teaches French (KS2–KS3, GCSE), Italian (KS2–KS3, GCSE, AS Level, A Level), and Russian (KS2–KS3, GCSE, A Level). In Humanities, Leon is available as a Geography tutor (KS2–KS3, GCSE) and History tutor (KS2–KS3, GCSE, AS Level, A Level). He can also help with 11plus tutoring (general) and Personal Statement support.

Leon is not a formally qualified teacher, but he does have experience working within the classroom and supporting individual pupils who are struggling with their courses, bringing that practical perspective into each tailored, student-focused session.
