About Jay

Jay is an experienced tutor who has supported SEN pupils, helped refugees learn English in order to access mainstream secondary education, and taken high achievers to Grade 9 and 100% in GCSE finals. After a brief consultation, Jay will be ready to design a bespoke curriculum for you. Whether you need to fall back in love with learning again, master a difficult section of an exam paper, or ask questions you are afraid to ask in class, your sessions with him will be personalized to your needs and goals.

As a Cambridge graduate, he has a broad and deep knowledge of English Literature from the Middle Ages to the present. He continues to read voraciously and sharpen his knowledge by reading journals in the University Library in his down time. Middle English (Chaucer, The Gawain Poet, Sir Thomas Malory) and Shakespeare were his main passions at college, but he also enjoys 19th century English, European and Russian novels. He is currently bingeing Jane Austen to wind down after a hectic day of teaching.
