How to compare the tutor profiles
A useful comparison starts with current AQA 8692 familiarity, then tests whether the tutor can support the learner’s actual tier, weaker components and preferred way of working. Some evidence may be visible on a profile; other points are better covered in an introductory conversation.
The questions below are decision aids, not a claim that every tutor has been graded against one standard. A strong match is the combination of relevant subject knowledge, clear teaching, practical availability and a working relationship in which the learner can practise, receive feedback and become more independent.
- Ask whether the tutor's AQA experience relates to 8692 rather than only the outgoing 8698 course.
- Share the learner's tier, recent school evidence and the tasks that are currently costing marks.
- Treat teacher qualifications, examiner experience, rates and availability as tutor-specific facts.
- Ask Latimer for matching help when a material question is not answered by the profile.
- Current AQA fit
- Look for recent 8692 teaching, preparation or marking evidence and ask which current AQA materials the tutor uses.
- Tier and assessed components
- Confirm Foundation or Higher and whether the tutor can support the learner's actual Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing gaps.
- Diagnosis and teaching approach
- Ask how the tutor identifies whether marks are being lost through vocabulary, sound, grammar, task coverage, timing or confidence.
- Speaking, vocabulary and grammar
- Compare how dictation, reading aloud, unprepared conversation, active vocabulary recall and grammar in production are taught and reviewed.
- Credentials and examiner evidence
- Check the exact qualification, board, subject, level and recency; do not rely on a generic teacher, examiner or specialist label.
- Rate, availability and fit
- Use the current profile rate and availability, then compare value with relevant experience, feedback, schedule and rapport.
- Safeguarding and matching
- Review current role-specific safeguarding information and ask Latimer to match needs that the directory cannot encode.
