Combined Science vs Triple Science: the short answer
In England, both options cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Combined Science is a double-award qualification worth two GCSEs and gives one overall pair of grades. “Triple Science” usually means taking separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, so the student receives three independent grades and studies additional subject content.
Ofqual puts the central point plainly:
“students who take combined science will study all three sciences” — Ofqual
Separate sciences can provide more prior subject content, but Combined Science can still support progression to science A levels when the student meets the chosen sixth form or college entry requirements.
