Biography
Javeria Marghoob is a qualified secondary Mathematics teacher, and finished teacher training in July 2022. She has 4 years' worth of teaching experience and during this time has taught in a high achieving secondary school in Altrincham. She has substantial experience with both the AQA and OCR scheme of learning. Her experience of teaching varied abilities over the years makes her highly adaptable. She has guided year 11 pupils to GCSE success with 46% achieving grades 5-7 despite prior instability and gaps.
She is highly competent on meeting a range of educational needs and ensuring that tutoring is tailored to meet the needs of the pupils. She offers online tuition lessons for key stage 3 and 4 mathematics, GCSE revision and 11+ examination preparation. The lesson is all about the pupil! She ensures tutoring is pupil-centred, learning needs are met and missing gaps are filled. Her friendly personality means she uses positive rapport and relationship building to create an ideal learning environment for the pupil, so they can feel safe and relaxed.
In the first lesson, she would give the pupils an assessment to identify gaps in knowledge. The main focus would then be on filling the gaps in future tuition sessions. In the beginning of each lesson, pupils are tested on prior knowledge to ensure they can recall the information. She breaks down a topic or question into smaller parts, and ensure pupils can then confidently apply the skill they have learnt to future questions. She uses a variety of resources and teaching methods, making learning accessible for all.
Her techniques involve exposing students to exam style questions throughout the tutoring experience to ensure they can apply the knowledge they have learnt. Other methods used are: are spot the mistake, underlining key parts of a question, and linking topics to prior information. She can set homework at the end of each session if the pupil wishes her to do so. Parents/carers are given feedback at the end of each session to ensure they are kept up to date.
