Lesson charge and duration
Confirm the length of each lesson and the amount you will pay. Compare like-for-like sessions rather than assuming every advertised price covers the same time.
Included work and other fees
Ask what preparation, materials or feedback the price covers, whether any additional charges apply, and when payment is due.
Changes, cancellations and stopping
Read the applicable terms before booking. Confirm how to reschedule, what happens if either side cancels, and what notice or charges apply if you stop. A pay-as-you-go billing model does not answer those questions.

In-person lessons depend on a separate agreement with an individual tutor. If face-to-face support is essential, confirm a workable location and arrangement before booking. Make any fixed requirement clear at the outset, such as a particular lesson time or an accessible way of sharing materials.

If you are choosing tuition for a child

Ask what checks and references support the choice of tutor, how concerns are handled, and who your safeguarding contact would be.
